In the early 90s, The Harris Land Company took part in developing Ballantyne, a 2000 acre tract of land in southern Mecklenburg County. The master plan called for commercial, retail, recreational, residential and resort areas. Today, that plan has become reality, and not only is Ballantyne a bustling, thriving suburb, it is also one of the most affluent zip codes in the Charlotte area.
The Harris Land Company retained 3 shopping center sites at each of the entrences of Ballantyne; now being developed. The Ballantyne town center is anchored by the first NC Publix, Wallgreen, and 5/3 Bank.
